FBI Agent Bilkins was part of the case Brian was working in the original film and later recruited Brian and then Roman Pearce to help him take down Carter Verone in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Even without Brian’s direct involvement in the series these days, Dom and Roman’s continued adventures — sometimes in conjunction with parts of the US government — certainly leave room for more familiar faces from the FBI to make an appearance. After proving her racing prowess by coming in second only to Brian in 2 Fasts opening race, Suki is shown to be a close friend, ally, and it seems even more to Tej Parker, and is someone Brian can count on whenever he needs help. Neela was not only the love interest of Sean Boswell in Tokyo Drift, she also had a history with that film’s villain, Takashi. Now that we’ve seen Sean and his pals again, why not catch up with Neela? She was last seen announcing Sean and Dom’s race and it’s certainly possible she’s still part of the racing scene. And if not, there’s any number of ways to bring her back given the career paths in the Fast and the Furious series allow for just about anything. But while we last saw her crashing her car, there was certainly no conclusive evidence it was a fatal impact. And again, we’re dealing with a series where what would be considered fatal is very different from what you and I might consider fatal. In Fast & Furious 6, Vegh is portrayed as one of Owen Shaw’s most trusted team members and right hand woman, as she determinedly participates in and helps orchestrate all sorts of mayhem. Amusingly identified as the counterpart to Brian — they’re both the attractive blond on their team, you see — Vegh was ultimately vanquished by Brian, who caused her crash. It seems that the dialogue gets thinner, the skirts get shorter, and the male gaze camera work gets more prominent with each passing Fast and Furious franchise film. The first five minutes of Tokyo Drift are atrocious, the patriarchal dialogue and the over-the-top Texas drawl make for lazy writing. Sung Kang as Han is the only bright spot. The eye candy is generic, but the race scenes are terrific, inventive and witty even as they occasionally end in crashes. Because is the nephew of a Yakuza Sonny Chiba, looking dapper in white suit and fedora, he has money and a sense of privilege, which means he's determined to take down Sean. They race repeatedly, make mean faces at each other, and compete for Neela's loyalty. While The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift pays some attention to Sean's "outsider" status as a Gajin in Japan, for the most part, he's another triumphant American in a strange land.
